Who will guide the next 10 years?

Today, I conclude our three-part series in celebration of our ten-year anniversary this past July. If you missed the first part, here are the link.

What LHCC hopes to achieve in the future

The past ten years have been defined by going two miles deep with those that the Lord sends our way, rather than two inches deep and two miles wide. In the past two plus years, LHCC has really expanded our range of services to address the needs arising from the pandemic. During this time, we applied what we learned from meeting basic food needs to establishing workforce development opportunities to address food insecurity. We also launched our kinship project and Kinship Kitchen. As we look forward, our desire is to serve more neighbors and double our capacity by continuing to identify churches with a willingness to help make a difference and see every chance as an opportunity to love our neighbors.

Our guiding principles for sustainment and growth

1.   We will continue to seek God’s will for our ministry and the families we serve. “Many are the plans of a man’s heart, but it is God’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21

2.   We will listen patiently to the feedback from our parent advisory committee, families, community partners, and dedicated volunteers as we endeavor to provide an environment that addresses the critical scholastic, spiritual and emotional needs of the community

3.   We will focus on relationships, and building trust across cultures and with people of different backgrounds, ethnicities and walks of life

4.   We will endeavor to do everything with humility and dignity and strive to do for others only what they cannot reasonably be do for themselves.

5.   Our goal will always be to fulfill our mission, by being collaborative and engage like-minded community partners and churches. here never has been a compelling case to reinvent the wheel. We are better together.

6.   As it relates to serving our precious children, we recognize that we can’t help them effectively without the support and buy-in of parents. We can’t want for kids more than parents do. Education is important. Children may not remember what we taught them, but they will remember how we treated them.

Christ-centered non-profits have a unique opportunity to link arms with others. I hope you will join us in fulfilling our mission as we endeavor to  remain mission true in the coming decade. Thank you for reading, and your continued support of our families.

With humility and appreciation,

Brent Morris
