LHCC Impact Report 2021

As we look back on another unprecedented year, we count our many blessings and recognize all that has been accomplished in loving our families and neighbors, thanks to volunteers, generous supporters and donors.

Food Insecurity

LHCC Kinship Kitchen Meals 
LHCC launched our first kitchen facility as a result of the learnings from our 2020 meal distribution program. 15 parents were Serve Safe certified, many have returned to prepare meals and hundreds of meals have been provided each month, in support of our LHCC families and the community.

  • We provided 150 LHCC family members and fall festival volunteers with a lunch meal during our fall festival.

  • We provided our church partner, supporters and partners with multiple lunch meals to celebrate our mission and thank our community for their support!

  • We provided 100 delicious meals each Friday during the summer to our kids and adults

Student literacy remains a core focus for LHCC

Education and Connect Hub

  • We offered over 40 in-person “school” days, in Q1 2021, where 25 to 30 children attended remote class and completed school days under the watchful eyes of LHCC team members and volunteers
.

  • We provided 75 kids with daily breakfast, lunch and refreshments.


  • Our students were encouraged to read with volunteers, as well as with handlers and their therapy dogs from Invisible Paw Prints.

  • We distributed over 1,000 books to take home to address the book desert and the scarcity of chapter books at home


  • Provided regular parent information and Zoom sessions to connect everyone with subject matter experts from public school, mental illness, library and partner non-profits


  • You helped us deliver reading, comprehension, math and various learning assessments for all our students


  • We implemented first time Remote Learning support for volunteers and students

During 2022, we are prayerfully seeking to welcome our Afghan refugee neighbors and offer help with ESL, English as a Second Language, food and eduction, some the sanctuary of St Andrews UMC.

Summer Enrichment

  • LHCC provided two weeks of in-person summer enrichment for over 80 students in a midst of the pandemic

  • We provided daily exercise, spiritual enrichment, meals and outdoor activities

  • We partnered with our core partners Go University and YMCA to provide nature walks, greenway excursions and swimming

Community Events

  • LHCC is fortunate to be able to continue to bless families as we provide safe community events under CDC guidelines with no clusters or COVID-19 outbreaks.
 We are grateful for all our volunteers, community partners and corporate and individual donors for their continued  support.

  • During the fall, LHCC hosted a vaccination event, in partnership with Walmart and CMS schools, that welcomed 280 families, over 700 people, and provided the opportunity for 185 children ages 5 to 11, ro receive their first COVID vaccination.

Food Distribution

In addition to the kitchen prepared nutritious meals, LHCC supplied over 500 boxes of perishable food items during the course of Q2, 2021

We provided food gift cards to families in excess of $4,000

Thank-you for being an integral part of our mission in serve alongside us as we provide scholastic, spiritual and social supports to families mired in generational poverty.
