We love to tell stories

This Thanksgiving and holiday season, we are taking time out of our busy schedule to show our gratitude and give thanks to the volunteers and team at LHCC. Here's a peek into our newest venture in 2021, our new Kinship Kitchen. Making a meal together can bring so much pleasure. Pictured below are John and Jay. John came to LHCC seeking a volunteer role in the kitchen. He is an ambitious college student originally from Vietnam, who helped our new chef Jay, a US veteran, hired by LHCC to prepare meals for our families during the summer. A bromance of sorts ensued and John was eager to return to help Jay week after week. Where else would two people from different backgrounds and ethnicities have been able to come together and break bread together while helping to address a very important food insecurity need in our LHCC community?

John and Jay work the kitchen to prepare nutritious meals for our families and the surrounding community

We have incredible volunteers who love connecting with our young students. Invisible Paws founder and author Rob Kortus and his wife, enjoyed a breakfast of pancakes and orange juice with the entire family. Rob explained "It was such a great pleasure to meet these two siblings and their mom. The gift and story books could not have gone to a better family. So sweet and kind. Thank you for making this union possible and for seeing a brief glimpse into the lives of others."

Our students were delighted to receive signed copies from Author Rob Kortus
