Volunteer Spotlight: Women of Vision

We are honoring volunteers this month, specifically the Charlotte Chapter of Women of Vision. Read more to learn about their impact on LHCC!

Non-profit organizations would have a nearly impossible time operating successfully without the help of a dedicated volunteer base. At Learning Help Centers of Charlotte, many of our programs depend on volunteers. This month, we would like to highlight a special group of volunteers from Women of Vision.

Women of Vision is a female, Christian humanitarian group that is guided by and was founded under the umbrella of the national organization, World Vision. World Vision partners with children, families, and their communities to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice, through a Christian worldview. This global organization keeps Jesus’ love at the center of all they do. In 2000, the Charlotte Chapter of Women of Vision was formed. They follow the same principles as World Vision and are committed to serving the same communities globally and locally in the United States. Over the years at LHCC, we have had a number of regular volunteers who are a part of Women of Vision. They had been volunteering with us as tutors and in 2021, Women of Vision Charlotte decided to make Learning Help Centers of Charlotte a part of their local mission work. Since 2021, WOV has led full-day camps for our kids twice a year, planned biblical curriculum for Tuesday programming and summer camp, and provided weekly volunteers as tutors. This group of women loves children and Jesus, and is committed to serving communities in need and sharing The Gospel. They teach our kids about Jesus in creative and engaging ways and spend time getting to know them. For day camps, there is always a bible story and scripture that are the center of the day and all other activities are planned around this theme. They do arts and crafts, make food, act out skits, and play games with one another. Around 15-20 women plan the camp, provide all of the materials, and lead the activities. On Tuesdays, we have 5-8 WOV members as regular volunteers and leading devotions. The kids are always so excited to spend time and learn from them. It is truly a rewarding experience for everyone.

LHCC is extremely grateful for Women of Vision and all they do for our families. They shine the light of Jesus into the lives of these children and have a huge impact on our organization. THANK YOU from all of us at Learning Help Centers of Charlotte.
