My sabbatical … and what I learned
Thank you to the LHCC Board for providing this gift and to the staff who continued the summer ministry work while I was away.
We have work to do again this summer
LHCC will once again be offering fourteen day-camps from June to August, including two five-day weeks of enrichment camp in June and July.
Lessons from a Missionary Veteran
We wish all veterans a Happy Memorial Day and fondly remember all those who have paid the ultimate price to protect our nation and fight for our freedom.
Enjoy this tribute to a missionary veteran who have served faithfully for 25 years.
Dios tiene a nuestros adolescentes en sus manos
As Martin Luther King so eloquently stated “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”. Our teens matter, as do all children. Please join me in praying for the wellbeing of all our teens, for a hedge of protection against the forces of evil that permeate all our lives to varying degrees.

Keep making good choices when it comes to health and wellness. Your body (and family) will surely thank you later!
Thank you LHCC volunteers and health and wellness community partners for your support!

"No dream is too big," DACA recipient shares her story
Jessica has served as the president of the Latin American Student Organization (LASO), which has the purpose of representing and teaching Queens students about different Latin American cultures. She also does community service at Learning Help Centers of Charlotte. To Jessica, giving back to the community is extremely important, and she wishes to continue to do so for the rest of her life.
Let me tell you my story …
Relationships are the threads woven within LHCC and they make up so many stories. Everyone that has had a hand in our organization is helping us write our story and shape the lives of so many.
Where angels fear to tread … biblical principles for guiding our children
I believe we have been given special responsibility to raise our children the right way, with guidance and nurturing. Discipline is a sure sign of love.
LHCC celebrates first year of Project FIT
Keeping everyone energized, healthy and well is the goal of our FIT project
The positive impact of cross-class friendships
Our LHCC families are so grateful to know just one American family who cares for them. We are hoping for many more opportunities to broaden networks for our family partners by leveraging our networks, so that poverty is not the end game. LHCC families work hard and are growing to assimilate to life in the US by surrounding themselves with supportive Anglo advocates, networks, and community partners. Economic, social, and spiritual connectedness are in our DNA at LHCC.
A Special Quinceañera
One 15th birthday was celebrated on a beautiful fall day at Freedom Park enjoying the company of others in a multicultural outdoor setting. The second was memorable because it was special to everyone present in a sanctuary.
Who will guide the next 10 years?
Christ-centered non-profits have a unique opportunity to link arms with others. I hope you will join us in fulfilling our mission as we endeavor to remain mission true in the coming decade. Thank you for reading, and your continued support of our families.
Who rescued who?
It’s a joy to see volunteers rescued by the connection they have made with their student, and hopefully the introduction of the parent who so appreciates the support.
Looking back on 10 years - What have we learned (part 2)
We love being a LHCC family, breaking bread and rubbing shoulders with our neighbors
Looking back on 10 years!
Perhaps you have noticed that LHCC just celebrated our ten-year anniversary this past month, culminating in a Kinship Kitchen lunch that coincided with our annual Summer Camp. It was a blast! God has so blessed our ministry this past decade.
Our Kinship Project explained …
We are repurposing kitchens in churches to allow volunteers to help our families prepare a meal for the community
